What Is Breast Reduction?

Abnormally large breasts can create social and functional concerns for women. Furthermore, they can lead to self-confidence issues and embarrassment, as well as neck and back pain. Dr. Algie LaBrasca helps countless women in and around DuBois and Brookville, PA rebuild their confidence and feel more comfortable through breast reduction surgery. This plastic surgery at LaBrasca Plastic Surgery removes excess breast tissue and skin to reshape the breasts to a smaller and healthier size. This surgery also reshapes the size of the nipples/areolas and moves them so they appear normal with the new size. In most situations, a breast lift is implemented to produce a more taut and younger-looking appearance.

What Can I Expect from Breast Reduction?

Surgical breast reduction is an outpatient procedure and is performed with general anesthesia. The timing of surgery is dependent upon a few factors, including the incision type, the general technique, and finally, the degree of reduction. The nipple and areola repositioning is also a factor. Typically, liposuction is used for fat removal to decrease breast size. During your private consultation, all of these aspects will be addressed. The potential for scarring is also discussed, as it is likely to occur. However, advanced techniques help us decrease the visibility of scarring. Depending on the intricacy of the size and overall reduction, either an inverted-T or a vertical incision will be incorporated. The breast tissue will be removed, and the remaining tissue and skin will be pulled and lifted.

Dr LaBrasca Makes Me 10 Years Younger! - Turning 41 after my third baby, I knew my face had changed a bit. My eyes seemed down turned and puffy. I looked tired all the time. I have two different Friends that had their “eyes done” by Dr LaBrasca. They all look really good and refreshed and definitely younger than their years. This winter I received unbelievably AMAZING results from a tummy tuck and breast reduction from Dr LaBrasca (please search for my review! The pictures are unreal) I decided to finally go for the upper eye lift and I am so happy I did! It seems most women wait till their in theirs late 50’s -60’s to get this procedure but I would HIGHLY recommend having this procedure in your 40’s. It really turns back time. I wake up and look rested. No longer puffy and squinting in pictures. It is a real game changer and confidence booster. Please have a look at my before and after pictures to see what I’m talking about. I have three young children, I no longer get all dolled up every day to go to drop off and the park :) I now feel great just wearing a pony tail and some moisturizer before I leave the house. The procedure was done in his office with out anesthesia. The bruising was less than a week with some dark under eye circles. Not bad at all! Two weeks later I was completely recovered. Dr LaBrasca is SO KIND! His whole staff is so very gracious and warm. They are simply great people. I flew in for my procedure from Boston and stayed overnight. A week later my whole Family drove back so I could have my stitches out and take a little family vacation there because we simply love DuBois Pa! Please message me for any more information or pictures!

He really cares - I have always been big chested and always wanted a breast reduction, but I was too scared.I was in pain physically from the size of my chest and emotionally I didn’t want to look at myself. When I found out that Dr. Labraska was coming back to practice in his hometown I decided to schedule a consultation. I remember crying in front of him because I was so afraid to have the surgery, but he reassured me that he was going to take good care of me and everything was gonna be OK. You are his patient and he really cares about you and it shows. He was amazing from beginning to end. It has been six years and I am still happy with my decision. If it weren’t for Dr Labraska I would not feel the way that I do today.

During your first visit to LaBrasca Plastic Surgery, Dr. LaBrasca will review all the options to attain your desired outcome and develop a customized treatment plan to fit your goals. There is no need to continue living with the discomfort or lack of confidence that sometimes accompanies large breasts. We invite you to call our DuBois or Brookville, PA office to learn more about this life-changing breast reduction surgery.

Will my insurance cover breast reduction?

Your health insurance might pay part of the cost of breast reduction surgery if it is deemed medically necessary. If you are considering using your insurance, talk to Dr. LaBrasca so he can help with your claim. You should also contact your provider to find out if your policy might cover the surgery and what they need to approve it. Your insurance will most likely decide based on measurements like your height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and body surface area.

Will my nipples be moved?

Usually, the nipples and areola will be shifted up to a higher position during the surgery. If a significant amount of breast tissue and skin are being removed, your nipple-areola complex may need to be moved. Dr. LaBrasca will choose an incision technique so the nipple and areola are easy to move higher on the breast. It is also possible to perform an areolatome to reduce the size of the areolas. All of these options will be explained in your consultation before Dr. LaBrasca helps you decide on the best plan to achieve your goals.

Can I breastfeed after a breast reduction?

Reduction surgery may affect your ability to breastfeed. Although some women may still be able to breastfeed after a reduction, some cannot. It is difficult to know whether your surgery will cause you problems with breastfeeding. For this reason, Dr. LaBrasca recommends that patients be done having children or be willing to not breastfeed before having breast reduction surgery.
